GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN- HOMEMADE BY TULA PINK

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun is available for purchase in the Yellow Umbrella Quilts pattern shop.

This pattern is for advanced beginners or intermediate quilters, and requires the Tri-Recs Tools by Darlene Zimmerman and Joy Hoffman.

My mom was the driving force behind this pattern. She decided on the name, collaborated with me on the design, enhanced the layout, and quilted and bound it! She even picked the fabric! Originally, I wanted to use Tula Pink’s Homemade line for an upcoming quilt but my mom was so in love with the line that we decided to go for it. We were not disappointed! I will most likely be using this line again for my next pattern because let’s be honest, its gorgeous!

When we finished Girls Just Wanna, I was dying to get it photographed. We had just gotten about a foot and a half of snow. So I thought, what better time than now to photograph such a vibrant quilt!

Writing the pattern was definitely a learning curve for me this go around. This is the first time I have worked with triangles, let alone written a pattern using them! I took my time working myself up to tackle the job. Between Covid and unexpected life events, this pattern got put on the back burner for a few months. However, I am so glad I was able to complete it and get it out to my testers. I don’t know how soon I will design another triangle quilt, but my testers assured me I shouldn’t give up on triangles completely.

Don’t you just love the sewing machines on the backing?! I think that is my favorite print in the entire line!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun was quilted on a long arm using Urban Elementz Take 5 digital pattern.
